Hi! I’m Emily, the new Clinic Coordinator for Dr Tarek Shalabi at Cosmetic Doctor Brisbane.

This was my first ever day within the cosmetic industry. I really wasn’t sure what to expect! Being filled with nerves would honestly be an understatement! I’ve never worked in any field similar to this so I’m learning on the job everyday.

At the moment I’m blindly opening parcels and writing “to do” lists that might not even be relevant! If one thing has helped my transition into the cosmetic industry, it’s my team.

They have welcomed me with open arms and have constantly provided me with reassurance that I’m on the right track. I was honestly so scared of making a mistake, and after making my first one, expected them to get frustrated at me. To my surprise, my team told me it’s necessary to make mistakes for ongoing improvement and actually helped me problem solve and move forward. From what I can tell so far, this is going to be an amazing journey!

This year for the first time the Cosmetic Doctor Brisbane team attended the Non Surgical Symposium 2024. An incredible invent to see the latest innovations in world of cosmetics. It certainly got our brains ticking and when we reflect back we are really excited to optimise and perfect our current processes and treatments and perhaps we will be adding in a few new offerings soon!!

We particularly loved the supply of snacks, complimentary treatments and samples!!!! We can’t wait for NSS 2025.

TGA Rules and Regulations

Why are some of our treatment names and descriptions so vague?
TGA no longer allows cosmetic practitioners to make reference to certain terminology and products in cosmetic procedures. Specifically, in a recent release of their rules and regulations TGA have stated:

“To resolve any inconsistency in interpretation across industry areas, the TGA no longer permits references to terms such as ‘wrinkle reducing injections’ or ‘dermal fillers’ where those terms would result in a reasonable consumer understanding the intention of the content is to promote the use or supply of a prescription medicine.”
